Monkey saves puppy? Monkey saves puppy! »
I saw this picture and had to share it! It’s a damn MONKEY holding a PUPPY! Can you handle it? It’s actually a downer as the monkey is said to be saving the puppy from the terrible pipeline explosion that just happened in Nanjing, China. Several people died and a ton of people were injured. But the monkey saved the puppy!
Do we have any readers in China? I can’t get any info on this besides the picture. What’s the deal with this monkey? What’s he wearing? It’s either some sort of contraption to keep him captive or he’s totally into S&M.
There’s not even that much info online about the accident at all but according to Time.com, this is one of a growing number of industrial accidents in China. This is especially interesting because I didn’t know Time still existed. Time also has pictures of a recent oil spill in China, though not a single one addresses any animals that may have been affected.
Moral of the story: monkey saves puppy!
UPDATE! There’s evidence that the picture is from 2008? WTF? NowPublic.com is lying to me! Why does everyone lie to me?! Well there was a pipeline explosion and there was an oil spill but as far as monkeys saving puppies, the jury is out.
New moral of the story: WTF and can anyone shed light on this?
The Humane Society of the United States had a photo contest for Spay/Neuter Day and HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THAT FACE. I don’t care if you don’t like rattie rats, YOU’RE A MONSTER. Rats are the very best and as smart as dogs and I love them all soooo much and GUESS WHAT? I’d rather marry a rat than your dumb ass. OH SNAP I HELLA SAID I’D RATHER MARRY A RAT THAN YOUR DUMB ASS! WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT YOU!?*
P.S. You should click through that link because there are hella cute photos, including a pit bull on wheels! that fool has wheels for legs! the future is now!
P.P.S. There is also a cat eating a book! Cats hate books! They also don’t think women should vote and are totally homophobic.
Saving seahorses: barehoofed and pregnant »
It seems that seahorses, my favorite sea creature with the head of a mammal, are in danger! According to the BBC, they are being traded on the underground market, used for icky medicines and threatened by pollution. This will not stand! The Anglesey Sea Zoo (zoos blow, but this is a good cause so I don’t know) in north Wales is dedicated to preserving these guys (btw, Megan is one of the most popular names for girls in Wales. It’s usually the first- or second-most common baby girl name each year. BOO-YA). The owner of the zoo has been breeding seahorses for a while but had trouble breeding the local species, but things are looking up! “He said that despite initially breeding hundreds of the creatures, none of them survived, until this year when 150 seahorses thrived.” THAT RHYMES. Oh BBC, you and your lyrical prose.

Feathers the color of storm clouds and breaking sky. I know it’s animal photos time in animal photos town today at Vegansaurus but me = in love with the blue Andalusian* chicken. The photo is part of a creepy set of misfits of modern agribusiness photos SLOW FOOD ARG.

*I know how to spell that because of The Pixies! So, you see, it was smart to miss all those classes to listen to music and NOT DO DRUGS HI MOM.
This Blog Rules has some amazing photos of animals inside the womb. Actually, they’re created through a combo of ultrasound, cameras, and perhaps a little help from photoshop? I’m not one to judge because there is no way in hell I could do that with photoshop. The best I can do with photoshop is make a horse gay so haaaaay. I’ll stop. Nevertheless, click on that link. Seriously, you haven’t lived until you’ve seen a dolphin in utero. It’s like a miniature dolphin. Actually, it is a miniature dolphin. INSANE(ly awesome).
If you enjoy English Humour, you can read more about the National Geographic documentary the photos came from the Daily Mail.
Friday vegan blog link-o-rama! »
A tour through this week in vegan blogs:
1. The Obligatory Vegan Post—a sweet essay by someone who just started being vegan and is loving it,
2. Sabor de Soledad—is vegan!
3. Amazing Vegan Ice Cream—a blog with such flavors as Barack-y Road (a delicious vegan take on Rocky Road and a nod to our favorite candidate!) and Pumpkin (Pumpkin).
6. Top Five Must-Have Kitchen Gadgets—I would add a George Foreman Grill to the list. Duh.
7. This is bizarre but Banksy is apparently saying something about factory farming—I am not Banksy. Your turn.
