Oh hell yeah, this week’s Vegan Cuts is for 40 TINY BARS OF CHOCOLATE. Let me say that again, because it’s insane: FORTY TINY BARS OF CHOCOLATE. It’s $20 including shipping, for those of you interested in details.
This is perfect for anyone throwing a party with favors (wedding? rave?), or for someone who has very few children come to their door and wants to give out the most gourmet treats ever for Halloween. Don’t let that tidbit get out on the internet though, or mobs will be trampling your petunias and shit.
I’ve had this New Tree stuff before and I rather quite like it. One time I was at an event where they were giving out samples and I went through the line like six times, because that’s how I roll.
Oh, and if you’re going to order 40 TINY BARS OF CHOCOLATE, you should probably send some to me. That is all.

Rescue Chocolate: greatest company ever, order everything! »

You guys all know about Rescue Chocolate, right?! If you don’t it’s probably because you’re less charitable and compassionate than I but it’s okay. I will illuminate you and in return, you owe me your first born. Now, don’t EVER EVER had a kid and we’re even stevens!
Rescue Chocolate is an all vegan chocolate company that donates 100% of their proceeds to animal rescue. HOW RAD IS THAT? And the actual chocolate? I tried it this weekend when I was in Portland (JEALOUS?) and it was SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD. I had the Peanut Butter Pit Bull, which I bought strictly because it has a cute-ass pit bull on it, and I was expecting to LIKE it but I LOVED it! Usually dark chocolate is just too bitter for me because I’m a delicate flower but this was SO good — peanut butter mixed with rice krispies (SO SMART) and then coated with creamy dark chocolate. It tasted like a high-class Butterfinger and you know what they say about those things: If you lay a finger on my Butterfinger, I’ll murder your whole family.
Order everything (or buy at a local store if you live somewhere great) because they really are the absolute greatest and all vegan and all delicious and about to be all mine, so HURRY!
Inside pic of a PBPB, GIVE IT TO ME:

UPDATE 9/2/11: I am bummed to find out that Rescue Chocolate isn’t on the Food Empowerment Project’s list of places that don’t use slave labor to get their chocolate. I am sorry I didn’t check the list first, because it’s such a good guide and I really do want to support places that are guaranteed happy for everyone. Rescue Chocolate, please use the good stuff so I can go back to ordering massive quantities on the reg!

The Teal Cat Project, put together by vegan geniuses Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Denise Muller is AWESOME. They buy a bunch of cat tchotchke from thrift stores and the like (or you can donate some!), then spray-paint them teal (the best color, no contest), then sell these sparkly, snazzy new cats to you for $25. All the money goes to help real cats in the ghetto! Or in suburbia! Or from mansions! Kidding, not those mansion cats, they’re doing A-OK.
The cats are limited, and I have this sinking feeling that they’re almost out, and I’m finna buy one soooo if you want in, DO IT TO IT. And if you don’t make the cut (screw-up!), then you can follow them on Twitter and find out when the next run will happen.
DONE AND DONE! Now, go get you a cat, you CCL. And while you’re at it, read all about why they’re doing it, and spread the word, you CCL.

This is the Stockholm dress by Jay McCarroll, whose online store is open for business today!
Jay McCarroll is the absolute awesomest, his work with colors and shapes is so subtly brilliant. Plus he’s vegetarian, plus his documentary was freaking great, plus he’s from Philly, plus his designs are so affordably priced you can buy multiple pieces and still have money left over for delicious snacks (always save enough money for snacks).
Seriously, his clothes are so pretty and sharp and fun and if I could I’d be buying the hell out of them right now (dear mister jesus, please help me find a job). Color! Cotton! Fashion! I LOVE YOU.

Free People’s vegan leather line! »

Free People makes clothes for the neo-hippie with money. Who else to do vegan leather? Refinery 29 has their lookbook, and on Free People’s site they have an adorable little video with some of their veg designers talking about why they love their vegan leather and how super-duper excited they are to wear it.
Man I am super-duper excited about vegan leather, too. Leather looks cool, leather clothes look really good, except they’re made of death and bad for the environment and that sucks. But vegan leather is the best of both worlds! If you have enough money you can do anything. Look at this dress!
I want to wear it! A lot! Everywhere! With boots and a bright cardigan! Thanks, Free People, like I didn’t have enough of a shopping problem already.

Vegan Cuts: discounts for the vegan folk! »

Vegan Cuts launched today with 40 percent off a vegan skin care kit from Moxie Organix! Vegan Cuts is kind of like Groupon but just for vegan stuff. And I know you vegans are some poor mofos! Every good vegan loves a deal, and every girl band deserves funding. Two Universal Truths.
From the company:
Vegan Cuts makes it easy and fun for their members to discover new vegan companies and shop vegan. Member receive weekly emails featuring exclusive deals from vegan companies. Most deals will be open to people living in the U.S., but some will also be extended to Canada or online shoppers.
Vegan Cuts is run by a vegan couple, John and Jill, who want to see more people shopping with vegan ethics. They feel a commitment to buying vegan food is a great start, but know people can also make a positive difference by choosing vegan options when purchasing clothing, shoes, accessories, body care products and everyday household items. This is why Vegan Cuts will feature a range of vegan products and encourage members to shop vegan by promoting opportunities to save money while eschewing animal cruelty.
Vegan Cuts has a referral campaign that encourages new members to sign up and share a referral link with their friends on Facebook and Twitter. The three people who refer the most new members by Apr. 24, 2011 will be eligible to win a gift certificate from Susan Nichole Handbags, a Texas Treat Tower from Nacho Mom’s Vegan Queso and a Coconut Bliss prize pack. For more on the Vegan Cuts referral campaign, read the Vegan Cuts blog post: Refer Friends & Win Awesome Prizes.
Sounds like a good opportunity to BUY BUY BUY while supporting vegan companies. I’m pretty excited! I hope they get SHOES. Maybe they will expand and be a barbershop/coupon website. Because that logo could totally work for a vegan barbershop. Am I right? Or maybe like a vegan plastic surgeon.
You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter if you want to get modern about it. And I know you vegans are some modern mofos!

Vegan creme eggs, y’all! Of course, not everything is wonderful because they’re in England and currently unavailable but I suggest you bookmark that page and refresh the living hell out of it. At least that’s what I’m gonna do from now until Easter but I’m a freelancer so I ain’t got nothing but time, baby! In completely unrelated news: PLEASE HIRE ME.
In the event that the eggs never available for purchase (I’ve got a bad feeling about this), you can always make your own. Good luck with that, Martha.
UPDATE: Oh snap, they might not actually be filled with creme. I can’t tell! Oh well, I did find where you can actually buy some (and lots of other vegan easter candy, too!) OH and someone posted on the Facebook wall, here are some for real vegan creme eggs to order! From the UK, too. Man, they’ve got that shit on lockdown.
