OH HOLY MOTHER
Man, it’s cooling down! (Ok, it’s 70 degrees in San Francisco, but our office is freezing. We swear.) Time to bust out some of these vegan S’mores Shots in Chocolate Glasses, don’t ya think? Click here or above for the recipe!

Melbourne, Australia has the best-looking bread in the world! »

How ridiculously good does that sourdough look? And it’s not even from San Francisco, it’s from Iain Banfield of Fruition Bakery in freaking MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA. Hot damn, I’m moving! If you’re anywhere near Melbourne, you’d be a fool (a damn fool!) to not eat all of it.
Here’s a little about Fruition Bakery:
Organic flour, salt, water, and natural sourdough leaven; to many of us that is the definition of “bread,” but there are so few bakeries today that have the skill to make bread with just these base ingredients.
Iain uses a beautiful little two-arm mixer to craft his dough and massage in olives and selected fruits to produce a variety of breads, including focaccia and fruit bread. An Alan Scott wood-fired oven completes the baking process.

Also, read this excellent write-up on them and OMG PLEASE BUY ME A PLANE TICKET. Or, if not, can I at least stay with you once I’m on the run for killing someone to assume their identity/have a ticket to Melbourne? Thanks!

Adrienne of Crack the Plates is the best, right? Evidence: She runs a vegan meal delivery service out of Atlanta, and this is a photo of one-third of a week’s meals. Look at it! Those smothered seitan medallions are Vegansaurus favorite Bryant Terry’s recipe, and Adrienne reports that all of you must make them immediately, as they are “possibly one of the best things I’ve made all year.” Thanksgiving is coming, you guys! So is the weekend, a.k.a. Eating Days. Let’s make some delicious fall comfort food and wish we lived in Atlanta and could get Crack the Plates meal delivery to our faces on the reg. Or, ever, you know.

Check out the adorable dino cupcake that Jessica at Bake the Day made! How adorable is that!? And more importantly, delicious! I’ll marry her and that damn cupcake, even if I have to move to Hawaii to do it! Especially if I have to move to Hawaii to do it! Actually, that might be my new game plan.
Jessica says:
I made them long before the East Coast had its great blackout recently with Hurricane Irene and sadly I had to throw out a few when our electric stopped the fridge [Ed.: NOOOO!!!]. They are a vanilla cupcake with a chocolate cookie crumb bottom and a ganache center, with vanilla buttercream and specks of colored sugar throughout, and a chocolate dino chilling out on top. Everything is homemade, and the cupcake was supposed to be grass, soil, and magma center, respectively. Hope you enjoy it!
Um, we do. WE DO.

It’s a homemade Golden Oreo and vanilla pastry cream stuffed into a golden cupcake. G’damn! That’s some work but the results look ridonc. For all you lazies in the house, here’s what I’d do: Just buy the Golden Oreos and some vegan pudding and then beg a friend to do the rest. And THAT’S how you get things done and still have time to watch TV all day. Livin’ the dream!
This recipe was inspired by the Bake it in a Cake website, which is just a place that posts pictures of food baked into other food. I’m a fan.

Vegan Indian food pop-up in the Mission on Wednesday! »
Dude, this sounds amazing. The folks at Kasa are making it happen, deliciously. It’s only $20, the menu is HUGE, and reports from last week’s dinner were that it was off the chain. Maybe not that wording exactly but I’m too lazy to look up the emails. SO! Go this week and support them making it all vegan and maybe we’ll see more vegan nights! They are randomly doing this one vegan because the demand was so high last week, so let’s support them!
Now, here is a picture of Dhokla, a chickpea flour sponge cake drizzled with tamarind sauce. You’ll be eating it on Wednesday, and you will be very happy!
See you there! Er, but first, call 415-690-8512 for reservations or email popup@kasaindian.com for reservations!

Vegan avocado frozen yogurt! »

I’m a little down today and all I want to do is eat vegan avocado frozen yogurt. This looks to be the bomb, except I’d probably use a good-tasting sugar replacement that’s not gross Stevia. Or maybe I’d just use sugar. Yeah, that’s what I’d do. UGH LET’S EAT AND WATCH TV AND NOT DO ANY WORK FOREVER, deal?

Vi Zahajszky has a recipe for vegan beignets up at Bay Area Bites. They look delicious and like not toooooo much work. I would like a million of them and 17 cups of coffee and also, some French fries. What? It’s Mardi Gras Monday! Oh, I guess that means some gumbo, too.

Make these peppermint patties (easily veganizable by subbing Earth Balance for gross-ass butter!) and then shovel them down your gullet until January 1st when you pretend you won’t be doing that anymore. AND THEN: I’ll see you fat asses when you come crawling back on January 3rd! Happy Holidays!!
