Veganville baked goods on the cheap for Vegansaurus readers! Whoopie pies shipped to your face! »
So, what’s the deal with Black Friday? Do we still boycott buying things? Or do we only boycott buying from big business? I’m so out of the loop! I do know I’ll be buying a Caltrain ticket back to to the city so I can work Friday morning (lucky me!) and then a $2 bottle of wine from Whole Foods to drown my sorrows because I’m broke, single and no one loves me. Just kidding! My cat will be so stoked to see me home after a night spent at Grandma’s house!
If you aren’t broke as a motherfucking joke and can buy many glorious items for sale today, please—let me lead the way.
Gigi is a vegan baker, located in the East Bay, who’s items you can find pretty much everywhere, including:

Anything at her store (except for gift certificates, but let’s be serious here)! We are going in for the cupcakes (or whoopie pies! Or brownies! Whatever you fancy, there is so much to choose from!)
[Vegan HoHo cupcakes. Yes please and thank you.]

Whole Foods in the Bay Area (and maybe all over) are offering mad discounts on Thanksgiving food that wasn’t purchased. Humanitaire is super-sadly going out of business. They’re selling off all stock in their store (online and in their Santa Monica storefront) at 40 to 80 percent off regular price effective today. Because they need to sell everything, the sale will continue until they run out of stock (or until Dec. 27, their last day). So, go get some good deals and support a vegan business on its way out. You will be missed, Humanitaire; hopefully you are on to bigger and better things! Or just to regroup. Running a biz must be NO JOKE!

Deal Alert: Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything Vegetarian! »
Amazon’s Black Friday sales are a weeklong series of “lightning deals” which kicks off today. How to Cook Everything Vegetarian, by Mark Bittman, goes on sale in two hours for (I think) just two or three hours, or until they’re all gone.
The price is hidden until then, but based on the sale price of the non-vegetarian version, it looks like it’ll be $17.50, which is half off the list price, and $5 off Amazon’s regular price. If you’ve been waiting to get this book, for yourself or for others, now’s as good a time as any!
Vegan Black Friday Roundup! »
This is going to be short and sweet, because there’s not a whole lot of Black Friday love from the vegan shops. The Vegan Collection even went dark and took their site down in observance of Buy Nothing Day. But for the rest of us who love Christmas and America, there were a few bargains to be found, that will keep your money buying vegan and keep your bad self far away from the insanity at the mall.
Alternative Outfitters has 15% off through the weekend, use code 15thanks09 at checkout.
Chrome, which makes the best messenger bags and backpacks that you will ever own in your life AND they’re based in San Francisco, is having a 20% sale through the weekend. Either use code chrome4day or check out their retail store at 580 4th Street.
Gilt Fuse has Matt & Nat bags and wallets at 60% off, which is climb-over-people-at-the-mall prices if you’re already a Matt & Nat fan. Gilt is members-only but you can sign up through this invite link.
