“Cinnamon Toast Crunch” Roll

I pretty much covered it in the headline but yes, Animal Place is giving away TWO Cinnaholic gift certificates! As it says, you don’t have to be in the Bay Area but it’s just for US residents. A couple years ago I ordered a bunch of their rolls to Philadelphia and I can confirm they travel well and are ridiculously good!

Vegan sweets-lovers, go enter!

I’m really craving a Cinnaholic roll right now (as I’m wont to do, as they’re DELICIOUS) and so I’m extra feeling this vegan zombie/Cinnaholic video which is adorable and SPOOKY and extra delicious. Check out all those flavor syrups — I totally would’ve mixed them all together to make one mega-flavor. Fuck it, it’s a zombie apocalypse—we’re all gonna die, time to go a little crazy.

It’s late and I’m a little drunk so that’s what with all the swearing. CINNAMON ROLLS 4 LYFE! GOOD NIGHT!

Ecorazzi Eats Restaurant Week! We’re all invited!  »

Ecorazzi Eats
, beginning tomorrow, is a nationwide celebration of sustainable (bleh), vegetarian (OK), and vegan (huzzah!) restaurants! There are all kinds of deals and specials for this eco-restaurant week. It’s kind of exciting.

Let’s look at the restaurants participating! L.A. is really putting out; SF is not representing so well, but Berkeley is picking up the slack! That’s right, everyone’s favorite cinnamon roll shoppe is in on this:

Cinnaholic: Free “Old Skool Roll“ ($4.25 value) with the purchase of any regular priced roll.

Nice. You can afford Cinnaholic!

Sacramento is in on the action, too: get a free dessert or iced tea with any purchase at Sugar Plum Vegan Cafe!

As for New York, guess who’s going to Candle Cafe! THIS GUY:

Candle Cafe: A 10 percent discount for all dine-in customers that mention Ecorazzi Eats Restaurant Week.

Gobo in NYC is also participating with a three-course tasting at $25 per person. I do love a tasting! I think I’ll have to check that out too.

There are lots of other restaurants participating in other cities—though none in Philly! Poor show, Philly, poor show. You can check the Ecorazzi Eats site for all the listings. So, who’s going?! Tell me which restaurant you’re going to! More importantly, who wants to go with me?!

Party at VegNews for awesome new vegan cookbook!  »

First, I LOVE ANIMATED GIFS. Second, we’re all totally going to this party, right? I mean, I am for sure. There’s a Cinnaholic cinnamon bun bar. A BAR of CINNAMON BUNS. Did I stutter!? I am gonna lay down and have them literally bury me in cinnamon buns and then eat my way out while you all watch in horror/admiration. I will be your new queen! Imagine the possibilities!

Oh yeah, the party is for Spork-Fed, the Spork Sister’s first book! I’ve heard that it’s ridiculously adorable and filled with tons of delicious recipes. Plus, everyone who meets those girls falls immediately in love and wants to be/marry them, so right away we have a lot in common. Except they have a book deal and a cinnamon bun bar. How have I failed so badly when I’ve had every advantage!? Damn my crippling laziness and intellectual handicaps.

Anyway, buy your tickets ($35 and includes a copy of the book!) so we can relax on VegNews’s gorgeous rooftop in the mission, drink hella champagne, eat all the food, and be the best together!

Oatmeal, obese monkeys, and breast-milk ice cream in this week’s link-o-rama!  »

First, and most important! IT’S MY BIRTHDAY! Happy birthday TO ME! You can thank my parents for their gift to the world.

[Latest documentary/cartoon from Cats Vs Human. What if I just call cartoons “documentaries” from now on? And phone calls will be “radio interviews”!]

They are selling breast-milk ice cream in London. BREAST-MILK ICE CREAM. While I’d rather die than eat breast-milk ice cream (right now I’d rather die than move, though), I’m in full support of this because it’s hilarious and brightens my world. Well Ok, I think maybe I’d try breast-milk ice cream for like $20,000. But is it going to pull in weird fetishists? Survey says: Probs.

Hey! Did you know that the SF SPCA appointed new presidents last month? Yes, more than one president! Two presidents—they’re calling it Four-Legged Leadership! One a super-savvy business man and the other a genius veterinarian.

Jerk scientists are getting poor monkeys fat and not letting them exercise, because we definitely can’t find any people like that to test on. The New York Times will tell you all about it!

PCRM is suing the federal government because the new nutrition guidelines are crap! They don’t like the “doublespeak” and “mumbo jumbo” the USDA uses when it should be calling out meat and dairy. I have a bone to pick with them too! Three servings of dairy, really? REALLY? CRAP!

UNC and Duke have picked Eating Animals as their summer reading requirement! I was supposed to read the biography of George Washington. Definitely did that.

From Mark Bittman, we have the most in-depth discussion of oatmeal I’ve ever seen! Specifically, oatmeal from McDonald’s: “Incredibly, the McDonald’s product contains more sugar than a Snickers bar and only 10 fewer calories than a McDonald’s cheeseburger or Egg McMuffin. (Even without the brown sugar it has more calories than a McDonald’s hamburger.)” Yowza!

Do you have a vegan tattoo? A tattoo with vegan subject matter? Super! Submit it to new website veganink.com and let’s get this party started!

Over at veganbaking.net, you can read an interview with Cinnaholic’s Shannon Michelle! Read all about how Cinnaholic came together and get advice for your own vegan baking biz! Can we all agree that Shannon Michelle is dead-sexy?!

The veggie internet has been a buzz about this story from Yahoo sports Vegetarianism is all the rage in MMA! That’s ultimate fighting. It’s a sport. I guess.

There was a big earthquake in New Zealand! The Search Dog Foundation is on the case! New Zealand has its own dogs but the SDF’s training leader is going over to help with the search and rescue. We wish them the best of luck! Be safe and save people!

Lastly, don’t forget about the East Bay Vegan Bakesale tomorrow! Get treats, get pudgy!

Yo! Heads up! Half-off a dozen Cinnaholic cinnamon rolls sent to your face! Oh, and Daily Gourmet is another Groupon-type service that’s catering toward more natural and vegan shit so might be worth watching. I have a love/hate thing with these services. I mean, I currently have 1 million Groupons and other such group coupons and I CAN’T STOP BUYING THEM. The next time I try to buy a half-off Pilates class, please stop me, because lord knows, I’m not going at ANY price. Now, please excuse me while I go eat at No Worries 50 times to work off that last Living Social deal.

Jenn Shaggy’s Veganize This! book signing at Cinnaholic!  »

The delightful Jenn Shagrin (check out our interview with her for proof), author of the newly released and highly delicious-looking Veganize This! From Surf & Turf to Ice-Cream Pie: 200 Animal-Free Recipes for People Who Love to Eat, is signing books at Cinnaholic* in Berkeley this Friday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m.! Man, this is a week of vegan celebrities and events in the Bay Area. Well, I guess I’m thinking of Isa Chandra Moskowitz’s Saturday visit but STILL! Two awesome vegan cookbook authors in one weekend. Killing it.

*GIVE ME A CINNAMON ROLL NOW PUT IT IN MY FACE. I joke, I’m on a cleanse so that means no cinnamon rolls for me/I’ll seriously murder the next person who crosses my path, MOM.

More vegan jobs for vegans: Cinnaholic is hiring!  »

Our pals at Cinnaholic need a “part-time highly motivated staff member who can do it all!” You’ll need to do a bit of everything, including bake and frost cinnamon rolls, run the register, and keep the shop clean and well-stocked.

Could you do this? If so, apply today! Of course you don’t have to be vegan or even vegetarian to get hired, though everyone would love you better if you were. Really. Come on.
