BART Blue Sky wants your vote! Let’s help veganize BART! »
Vegansaurus loves public transportation! Sometimes in theory, mostly in practice. Some of us spend upward of seven hours a week on public transportation, half of that on good old, smelly old BART. And yes, we have our music and yes, we have our reading material and yes, we have our people-watching, but what we could really use are some non-insane onboard ads. (Insanity Wolf for Kixeye was funny the first time only.) Here is your chance to help us make things nicer for us and the animals, hooray!
BART Blue Sky is holding an ad contest to benefit one of their nonprofit partners, which include the Coalition to Fight Factory Farming, the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture, Earth Justice, and the San Francisco Vegetarian Society. All you have to do is vote, via Facebook, for the nonprofit of your choice, and you could win a $500 Clipper card, a folding bike, or a $100 BART card. And if you don’t want those things, maybe vote anyway, because the three nonprofits that get the most votes will win nearly $45,000 worth of free advertising space on BART!
One vote per person, and the contest is open through May 4. Tell your friends! Vote for some awesome vegans!

OK bakers, let’s do this! Pie or Die!…Part Deux is coming to San Francisco, courtesy of SF Food Wars. It’s being held at the Ferry Building and they are looking for competitors! Pull out your aprons, your oven mitts, your rolling pins and get to work! Be creative, be classic, I don’t care, just make the best vegan pie of your life! (or, pies? You must make enough to sample out to at least 70 peeps.) Enter to compete here.
The competition takes place Saturday, June 12 and is free to enter, but space is limited to 20 competitors, so sign up RIGHT NOW!! Don’t even worry about finishing this post. Seriously. Sign up. Now. Pie must be sweet (as opposed to savory) and feature at least one ingredient from the Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market. You can do this! Vegansaurus believes in you! [Ed.: And VEGANS HAVE WON BEFORE! So get up on this!]
Proceeds benefit the SF Food Bank and the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture.
