Reminder: Sunday, July 24 is the East Bay Vegan Bakesale! »
You’re totally going, right? How else are you going to purchase delicious vegan baked goods to support Bay Areas Girls Rock Camp and Save KUSF?
Check out the EBVB’s Facebook and Twitter for more information—they’re still taking donations if you want to bake for them! Come out to Issues at 20 Glen Ave. in Oakland between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday, OK? Bakesale!
Congratulations to the fine volunteers of the East Bay Vegan Bakesale! Thanks to their efforts—and your purchases!—they made $1,300 to give to Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue and the East Bay Children’s Book Project! Excellent job, everyone! Extra gold star for all the people who brought books for donation as well; you are very lovely, indeed. Imagine a childhood without books! Good work all around. And to whoever made those cakies in the white box there on the left: DANG.

The East Bay Vegan Bakesale is finally here! This Saturday, Oct. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of Issues in Oakland, and the organizers want to emphasize that the bakesale will go on rain or shine. They have a rain plan! They would also like to let everyone know that any and all vegan baked goods are still welcome—no need to be a fancy professional, just a lovely kind person who wants to help raise money for Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue and the East Bay Children’s Book Project. Speaking of which, bring a child’s book to donate and get a free treat!
Issues is located at 20 Glen Ave. at Piedmont Avenue, and do bear in mind that Piedmont will be closed from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for the Halloween parade. Anyone interested in helping with the Bakesale in whatever capacity—setup, breakdown, cashiering, or bringing baked goods to sell—should please contact the organizers! Everyone else: Show up and buy, for the birds and the children (and also your stomach, hooray).
The rad & amazing East Bay Vegan Bakesale is looking for bakers (email them!) and eaters (just show up!) for their next bakesale on Saturday, June 26th. These things are so g-d fun and delicious, if you’re not showing up, you’re definitely missing out. And look at that list of superstar vegan bakeries they already have lined up HELLO. We’ll be there in our stretchy pants to get our binge on!
Post-Punk Extravaganza! »
Portland-based publishing juggernaut and zine clearinghouse extraordinaire, Microcosm Publishing, launched their Post Punk Extravaganza tour on April 1, and YOU should be excited! Why? Because vegan chef/travelin’ man, Josh Ploeg, will be coming along, presenting a vegan cooking show based on his book, In Search of Lost Taste.
It promises to be a fun time for all, and it’s going down on Sunday, Apr. 11 at 6 p.m. in Oakland at Issues, and on next Monday, Apr. 12 at 7 p.m. at Needles and Pens here in San Francisco. Be there, or be a dried-up husk of an old punker!
East Bay Vegan Bakesale this weekend! »
It’s that time again! Hooray! The East Bay Vegan Bakesale returns this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m, at the same location as before, in front of Issues. Perennial baking superstars Fat Bottom Bakery, Cinnaholic (have you tried the pizza rolls?!), and more will be on hand dishing out treats to benefit Animal Place and Haitian relief efforts.
If you want to bake, email them! If you want to eat, SHOW UP! Let’s do this, vegans and fellow fat-asses!
East Bay Vegan Bakesale, you guys! It’s sponsored by friends of Vegansaurus Fat Bottom Bakery, and as you can see by this super-duper old-school ’90s-zine-style flyer, it’s looks to be the perfect melange of new-and-improved! and comfortingly familiar (the part where you buy and eat a metric ton of vegan sweets).
It’s set for Saturday, Jan. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of ISSUES, at 20 Glen Ave. at Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. Volunteers? Needed! Beneficiaries? TBD! Get a hold of them to donate your time/baked goods NOW!
