Ooh fancy! These are Keep’s newest limited-edition shoes! They’re designed by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. You like vegan shoes? You like music? You like rescued animals? Maybe these are the shoes for you!
Designed by Justin Vernon and using our trademark Ramos silhouette, the Keep + Bon Iver shoe features herringbone accents, a black fishbone detail across the toe, and a canvas upper custom dyed to a perfect pale salmon.
Rooted in a shared love of animals, Keep + Bon Iver proudly support the Best Friends Animal Society, an animal advocacy group which operates the nation’s largest sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals. As many of our fans know, we are grateful every day to call our rescued kitties (Toots, Teca, Orange Roughy, and Peanut Butter Face) and our rescued pups (Toni and BB) family. Justin is also the proud adopter of two rescued cats.
You can pre-order the shoes now through July 1, and they’ll ship in October, which I think is better because 1. These are kind of fall-colored shoes, right?; and 2. Delayed gratification is important!
Save HUGE during our President’s Day sample sale. PLUS get an extra 20% off your entire order when you use the code PRES20 at checkout. The weekend long sale is today through Monday! Check it out now!
Vegansaurus loves shoes! Fancy shoes, casual shoes, ridiculous shoes, sensible shoes: We love to make our feet look their best. And Keep makes stylish, durable, charming vegan shoes to keep your feet happy. Do it to it!
(Also: Hi, Keep’s tumblr! We love you guys!)
Sometimes I feel like all I do is give Keep free advertising but look at this picture! It’s only the cutest thing in history! Oh, cats and vegan shoes, two of my favorite things. We should have a cats and vegan shoes calendar! Who wants to be in charge of that? I would do it but 1. I hate photography and 2. I’m overwhelmed looking for a stupid apartment in stupid New York. So someone else will have to steer this ship!
How do we like this brown and denim shoe? I’m into it. But can you wear it with jeans? Or is that like denim overload?
Men’s Vegan Dress Shoe Round-up: Step Up Your Game, Bros! »
Hello friends! I’ve been meaning to do a men’s dress shoe round-up for like ever but I totally forgot because HELLO I DO HAVE A LIFE. Just kidding, I was busy watching hulu. But then twitterer @Midnighthaircut reminded me, so here we go!
From Alternative Outfitters, we have the men’s Frey loafer in brown!:
Sorry, Cally is unavailable for comment so you will just have to go with my opinion for now. I think these are BEAUTIFUL.
Up next, the Brogue from Ethical Wares:
What do you think? I think they are a little square but classic.
Here we have the Justin shoe from Novacas (I like the brown ones that Mooshoes has but the pic was terrible so here they are in black. I guess the black is pretty nice too):
Now where I really scored was over at Vegetarian Shoes. They have several I like!
The antique Brogue for the dandy:
The Regent boot:
And the Jenson for the mod hipster:
Of course if you want to be a total pimp, which I know you do, you can get the new vegan loafer from Gucci:
Though the site says they are unavailable and I have no idea where to get these.
If you work in a more relaxed office like mine, you could totally do the Solis from Keep:
And there you have it! The men’s vegan dress shoe round-up! Congrats. Tell me if you get any of them and tell me which you like the best.
I forgot about Bourgeois Boheme, they have some great men’s shoes like this super-sharp Graham above.
Keep shoes for Japan! »
I got this in an email from Keep today. Pretty cool! “A portion from every sale of our Japanese Thatch collection will be donated to Japanese Disaster Relief efforts.” There’s no more info on their site about it, at least none I can find, so I don’t know the percentage they’re donating or anything but every little bit helps! Plus VEGAN SNEAKERS HOLLER AT ME.
Now if only they had some kind of Haitian thatch shoe! Of course you don’t need to buy vegan shoes to donate money to Haiti, or Japan for that matter, but it would definitely be a bonus! Vegan shoes make everything better. It’s nature’s way!
Gifts that give back! For vegans and beyond! »
That’s right errrybody, a Vegansaurus Gifts That Give Back list! Because there is nothing like secretly imposing your values on others! I think I’ve got something for everyone on here. I’m kind of known for being the best gift-giver in the world so you’re pretty lucky I’m here. Now, it’s not as easy to recommend stuff for strangers but I found some good presents. Let’s do this!
First up, this is a present for your fashionable dog-lover. What? Why, yes, I guess that does describe me very well! And I can assure you I would love to get this:
This is the “found my animal” set and it’s available at Uncommongoods.com and on the manufacturer’s site. It celebrates all the adopted pups out there! Totally leather-free, each leash has a little brass tag with a number on it, counting your dog among the league of the proud rescue dogs. They have super-cute harnesses on their site too, all totally cotton. The best part, 25 percent of their profits go to the Louis Animal Foundation. Awesome!
Now for the “foodie” (“foodie” is like more stigmatized than “hipster” in my mind) or tea-lover, Douglas Fir tea! You can purchase the tea from my favorite vegan sneaker company, Keep! Made by the Juniper Ridge, 10 percent of sales go toward “protecting the western wilderness.” Ha! You thought I was only going to do animal charities, didn’t you! Well, guess what: lots of animals live in the wilderness so it’s important to protect our environment, too! Plus, I know lots of people that care about the environment and don’t care about animals so they will like the extra benefit from the gift and not know that you are secretly supporting the vegan agenda. Ha! Ha-ha!
Above we have a nice gift set from Aveda. Toiletry gift sets rule. I said it. Plus with this set, you get a little tagua nut accessory, sustainably made by women in Colombia: “Aveda’s alliance with indigenous people and women artisans in Colombia helps support BETTER FUTURES FOR 400 FAMILIES, and helps PRESERVE 400 RAINFOREST ACRES.” Dope!
For the bambino in your life, here’s a super great gorilla from miYim:
A portion of the proceeds go to everyone’s favorite ape-woman, the Jane Goodall Institute. I’m really into the description of the stuffed animal: "…this thoughtful and realistic looking Gorilla…" Does he look thoughtful? Or realistic? Doesn’t realistic mean we’d see his frank and beans?
Here’s another good gift for kids or a family:
The Mission: China board game, available at Amazon, is all about endangered animals! Plus, a portion of the proceeds go to Conservation International. I will admit that I totally enjoy playing board games with my family on holidays. Don’t tell anyone!
Now this next thing, I’m totally into:
A wildlife habitat kit! Awesome! Perfect for the gardener or just I guess anyone with a house or backyard. It’s available from the National Wildlife Federation. So cool! Shut up, it is cool.
For my next trick, candles that give back!:
With Jimmy’s candles, five dollars from every candle goes toward charity. You get to pick the charity from a list that includes Paws SF and the ASPCA, so that rules. I know candles aren’t the most exciting thing ever but you can kind of give them to anyone and they are actually useful, unlike 90 percent of presents. Oh! And all the candles are soy. Shweet.
OK, OK, this list is getting long! I will leave you with one final idea:
OK that’s two but they are from the same place! This is the Treahouse crossbody and the Mend messenger from the Mend collection and they benefit Invisible Children. See, I don’t only care about animals! I care about kids too. But that’s where I draw the line! Kids and animals. They are innocent and we should take care of them. Plus, these bags are FLY! Come on, you know I’m right.
There you have it! A nice list if I do say so myself. Happy holidays!
Breaking news! Animal Collective partners with Keep, youngins rejoice! »
Animal Collective is like totally popular, right? The kids these days, they love them, no? I don’t know much about this newfangled music but I did see Animal Collective with Panda Bear like eight years ago during my D.C. days, before they were so popular. I’m obviously the coolest. No but I enjoyed it very much. I’m just too busy listening to Billy Paul to keep up with the kids these days! That’s right: TSOP, motherfuckers!
Pairing up dope vegan sneaks with a nice band is right up my alley! Well done, pals, well done.
