John Bartlett’s vegan menswear is so hot right now  »

BlackBook's Nell Alk has a feature on John Bartlett's spring 2013 line, which he showed at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, you guys are you in love yet? OK, how about this: The clothes are all linen, vegan, sustainable, and totally gorgeous. Love!

We’ve talked about him before, but man, you should read this article, Bartlett is a good dude. Joshua Katcher loves him, Jeff Nesmith loves him, Vaute Couture collectively loves him, and (most importantly), Megan Rascal loves him. Why?

As he told BlackBook, “Everything I’ve learned—about how we use animals for clothing, entertainment, food—I would like not to do.” And what about the rest of his animal-product-using industry? “Being in the fashion industry, [avoiding animal-derived materials is] never a big consideration. I think it’s going to change. It’s changing.”

Here’s hoping. Get over to BlackBook to read the article and see photos of Bartlett’s entire SS13 line, which is pretty delightful. That pink suit! The shorts! The ties! Men’s vegan clothing is catching up to women’s and I couldn’t be happier. You guys in like five years we are all going to look so good.

Unstitched Utilities: Vegan shoes for ladies and dudes!  »

Hello, Turn Down Chukka QT

The New York Times' International Herald Tribune did a little feature on Unstitched Utilities, a vegan shoe company that uses Tyvek to make sustainable, theoretically recyclable shoes. And they are kinda hot, you guys.

The totally vegan Hang Up Slip On, in a sunshiny yellow

What I particularly love is that not only are Unstitched Utilities shoes totally vegan and eco-friendly, they are waterproof. This means you can pop out of the house in your cheery yellow slip-ons, get caught in a freak rainstorm, and still have happy, dry feet! Because as much as I love a rainboot, I don’t always want to commit to full-on wellingtons. These are casual and charming and just weird-looking enough. And the men’s shoes are absolutely great, vegan dudes.

Read more about Unstitched Utilities at their site. Wearing stylish, eco-friendly vegan shoes increases your sexual attractiveness by 20 percent, guaranteed.

Men’s Vegan Dress Shoe Round-up: Step Up Your Game, Bros!  »

Hello friends! I’ve been meaning to do a men’s dress shoe round-up for like ever but I totally forgot because HELLO I DO HAVE A LIFE. Just kidding, I was busy watching hulu. But then twitterer @Midnighthaircut reminded me, so here we go!

From Alternative Outfitters, we have the men’s Frey loafer in brown!:

Sorry, Cally is unavailable for comment so you will just have to go with my opinion for now. I think these are BEAUTIFUL.

Up next, the Brogue from Ethical Wares:

What do you think? I think they are a little square but classic.

Here we have the Justin shoe from Novacas (I like the brown ones that Mooshoes has but the pic was terrible so here they are in black. I guess the black is pretty nice too):

Now where I really scored was over at Vegetarian Shoes. They have several I like!

The antique Brogue for the dandy:

The Regent boot:

And the Jenson for the mod hipster:

Of course if you want to be a total pimp, which I know you do, you can get the new vegan loafer from Gucci:

Though the site says they are unavailable and I have no idea where to get these.

If you work in a more relaxed office like mine, you could totally do the Solis from Keep:

And there you have it! The men’s vegan dress shoe round-up! Congrats. Tell me if you get any of them and tell me which you like the best.

Update:

I forgot about Bourgeois Boheme, they have some great men’s shoes like this super-sharp Graham above.

Another update! Tumblerer Vegan Shoe Gazer reminded me of the Noharm collection!:

Some kind of hot/cold fashion/weather pun: Men’s winter coat round-up!  »

What up, homeboys?! I didn’t forget about you! I know you get cold. How about some nice winter coats?

But not before a refresher on the evils of down (not for faint of heart):

So sad. And as the video says, there is no way to tell where the down in any particular jacket comes from. Let’s look at pretty coats and be happy we don’t hurt geese.

First up, this Patagonia number.

This is your standard hooded-bomber that anybody can wear. It’s filled with primaloft and made of 100 percent recycled polyester! Yay! Besides the many eco-benefits of these down-alternative coats, many of them say down-alternatives mean you stay warm when the coat gets wet. NICE! We RULE!

Here’s a rather exciting coat, the Special Blend Rifle insulated jacket.

I’m into it. It’s kind of subtly ’80s.

Here’s a handsome coat!

Hello, Shimmer Me Timbers jacket from Columbia! Let’s cozy up!

For a grown-up look, here’s the Hamilton jacket from Marmot.
What’s up, dad! No, but for real, I like this jacket. And it has like 80 million features, which is exciting!

Let’s get a little hipper with this Under Armour coat.
This jacket highlights another bonus you get from synthetic insulation: you can move! It’s warm but thin.

Here’s my favorite, a good-old Carhartt parka!
There is nothing better than a nice boy in a Carhartt—that’s my word! Holler at me, Carhartt boys!

Finally a vest! It’s the Baffin vest from Marmot.

I wouldn’t recommend this vest for everybody but it’s pretty cool. Only get it if you think you can pull it off. Just leave it home if you’re going out on the Razor, please.

There you go, boys! Stay warm!

Hey you vegan boys! You’ve got your own store!  »

Yes vegan boys, you can stop dressing like a slouch because The Ethical Man is here! I know I neglect you, always talking about women’s shoes and whatnot, but no longer!

The Ethical Man is not just an online shop, it’s also a fashion resource. The store is actually a bit sparse now but I’m into these skinny ties. And they aren’t silk, pals! Holler! They also have bow ties and some other items plus a few dope coats from Vaute Couture. I’m in love with their “About Us” section because they promise all the items they sell are, “MANLY. After all, real men don’t hurt animals.” OMG LET’S GET MARRIED.

And dudes, you can submit yourself to be featured on their Ethical Men series on their blog! I’m thinking our vegansaurus boys should be all up on there!
