(Look for this everywhere soon, but I know they for sure have it at Nooch Market.)
Glory be: Earth Balance releases vegan sour cream and onion chips! »
Oh. Em. Gee. I mean I knew I’d see the day because eventually everything will be veganized but I didn’t know it would be so soon! VeganEssentials is selling vegan sour cream and onion flavor kettle chips! Sour cream and onion chips were my jam when I was younger. I haven’t tried these yet but be damn sure I ordered a bag already. Anyone had them yet? I’m so excited! And I just can’t, etc!
Chambers Lane pâté review! (amazing new vegan cheese alert!) »
Since Laura and I moved to the East Bay, we’ve been unable to get to Rainbow Grocery as often as we used to. Last time we were there, we um, went a little overboard. We came away with four new cheeses and cheese spreads that we had never seen before. Of these, the Chambers Lane Truffled Cashew pâté was far and away the favorite, even above the much pricier Punk Rawk Labs cheese.
So when the people of Chambers Lane contacted us to see if we were interested in trying their other flavors, of course we said yes.
All together, there are three flavors. The first we had tried was Truffled Cashew. They also have Fig Balsamic Walnut Cashew and Rosemary Thyme Almond. These are also quite good.
The Fig Balsamic is sweet, tart, and rich-tasting, with hints of spice, it definitely has a wonderful complex flavor.
The Rosemary Thyme, on the other hand, is savory, but with a milder herbed taste. It’s almond-based, so it’s not quite as creamy as the other two, but is still pleasantly nutty.
But the first one we had tried probably still remains the favorite. With its rich, decadent truffle oil and creamy cashew texture, it really is something special. We started out by eating it on crackers like fancy folks, but then polite affectations went out the window, and we finished by sticking our fingers directly into the jar to get every last bit.
In addition to being available at Rainbow Grocery, you can also find Chambers Lane pâtés at Country Cheese Coffee Market and Berkeley Bowl West in Berkeley, Woodlands Market in Kentfield, and Draeger’s in Menlo Park, Danville, and San Mateo.
Let’s hope they get into even more stores soon, because this stuff is the GREATEST. Insanely delicious vegan cheese for all!
Dude, Trader Joe’s is making their own vegan holiday roast this year!! It’s probably Gardein or some other repackaged shit, but I’m about to get all up in it. Have you tried it? Lets eat many this holiday season, okay? Also, all the other holiday roasts, too.
Man, I fucking love the holidays!
[via the Vegan Trader Joe’s Pinterest board! It’s awesome!]
Gardein is doing a holiday roast this year! And it looks daaaaamn tasty, let’s EAT IT ALL!
Vegan snack box coming to your door! »
Heads up! Vegansaurus sponsor Vegan Cuts is doing a monthly vegan snack box subscription thing and I’m pretty excited. I loved this idea when Lollihop did it but I understand they folded? I’m pretty confident Vegan Cuts can pull through though—they seem to be super successful (no, I’m totes not jealous they have twice as many FB fans as us!). Septembers box is sold out but you can apparently pre-order for October like I did.
There’s also a super-healthy vegan and gluten-free (soy-free too!) snack box subscription, Healthy Surprise. I believe we will have a review of that soon but you can read the site to get an idea about what kind of snacks come in the box.
I love snacks and I love getting things in the mail—it’s perfect! Really though, what’s better than snacks and getting stuff in the mail? Nothing!
Vegenaise coming out with some bomb new flavors! »
Here are the new Vegenaise flavors, pictorially, because I’m sick and you should feel bad for me. I tried them all at the Fancy Food Show because I’m fancy and they were all outrageously delicious. Specifically the barbecue, which would make one damn fine bbq potato salad. And the pesto vegenaise, holy shit. UGH IT WAS ALL SO GOOD. I can’t think about it right now because they’re not all right in front of me and I’m already sick — what’s the point of being sick AND sad? HUH?
Anyway, they should be showing their faces soon in grocery stores near you, let us know if you see them and then also, send them to us!
Rau Om’s mind-blowing new vegan cheese; you must try! »
Well, not that exactly. What had happened was, when it first arrived, I greedily ripped open the packaging, cut off an enormous chunk, and stuffed it straight in my maw. Then, I spit it out because it was DAMN POTENT. I then read the accompanying information and saw that it was supposed to be eaten like CHEESE. My bad!
Finally I came correct with some crackers and it blew my mind one more time. Creamy, pungent, expensive-tasting, “real” cheese. Like, you could serve this to omni guests and they would eagerly wish to learn more about it, and you would be like, “NOT UNTIL YOU GO VEGAN, OK?” and then they would go vegan and BAM! Look at you and your activism, all saving the world and shit via delicious vegan cheese.
If you want to try this stuff inside the United States, you have two options: You can order from maker Rau Om’s online store; or, find them at Sunnyvale and Palo Alto farmers markets. Also, if you have a minute, read this article to learn tons about this kind of cheese, so that you know more about things than everyone else, and can make other people feel stupid when you talk about it. Like, who doesn’t know about tofu misozuke!? Philistines!!
Spotted at Trader Joe’s: Cookie Butter, vegan dog treats, and organic coconut oil! »
Just thought you’d all like to know, because cookie spread is ridiculous, and often really hard to find in the United States. Biscoff was spotted at Cost Plus, but there can always be more cookie spread. Always more. Always. Anyone have any cookie spread cake or cookie recipes? Because I’m finna experiment.
Annnnd organic coconut oil is so great for holiday baking and for high-heat cooking and also, spread that shit on some toast and call it a day. OMG, make grilled cheeses with it. Melt it on popcorn! Use it to grease locks and break into your neighbor’s house to steal the cute dog she never walks/smash in her insanely loud sound system! The sky’s the limit!
And finally, check out these cute-ass vegan holiday dog gingerbread men! Trader Joe’s really works it on the packaging and I appreciate the effort. So does Hazel and Toby! Actually, they don’t give a shit about the packaging but they do like the cookies!
