» Saturn Cafe opening in Berkeley this month!

After years of rumors that the Saturn might open up a second location in the city, they’ve opted for Berkeley instead, and are planning to open this month at 2175 Allston Way. If you’ve never been to Saturn Cafe, you’re missing out. Nachos, nacho fries, burgers with spicy chipotle sauce (seriously, you want this), and vegan milkshakes. Not everything on the menu is vegan, but everything is at least vegetarian with plenty of vegan or can-be-made vegan choices.
Saturn Cafe used to be open 24 hours, and rounding up anyone still online and road-tripping down to Santa Cruz in the middle of the night was a ritual. If the rumors are true, the new Berkeley location will be open until 2 a.m. Not quite late enough for the Lost Boys’ schedule, but anywhere that stays open past 10 p.m. (when San Francisco restaurants have to run home for curfew) might actually get me crossing the bridge.

Vegan grilled cheese a possibility! »
The American is a new grilled cheese restaurant opening in South Park (January-ish, we gather?), and we have heard through the grapevine that some vegan options may be included in the final menu. Currently, vegan grilled cheese is only available in SF at Ike’s Place.
Follow them on Twitter to stay apprised for now!

Opinions needed: Help Design a Bay Area Vegetarian Restaurant »
GreenBar is a vegetarian “fast casual restaurant” coming soon to the Bay Area. Apparently they haven’t even settled on which city they’ll be in yet, so the actual physical eating establishment is obviously a long ways off. But they are testing the waters right now to see what we want to eat. And leave your contact info for a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card — as if you needed any incentive!
“If you could create your ideal fast casual vegetarian restaurant, what kinds of food would you want most to be on its menu?”
“Do you have any suggestions to improve the current vegetarian restaurants in the Bay Area?”
It’s too much all at once. I’ve got the shakes. SO MUCH TO SAY.
What’s on your vegan restaurant wish list? Biscuits and gravy? Waffles? Tempeh reuben? Chili cheese fries on top of pizza and deep fried? I know you have some opinions, it’s time to weigh in! For the good of our city!
