I’m currently living in a country where crackers have shrimp in them, tofu is usually covered in fish flakes, and hiding ham inside a baguette is the norm (Japan), so I was thrilled when a group of friends agreed to an entirely vegan Thanksgiving potluck!
The first picture is our full spread. Mashed potatoes, cashew gravy, green bean casserole, sage stuffing, ginger glazed carrots, corn, chickpea cutlets, gluten free meatless loaf, wild rice and pumpkin pilaf, purple sweet potato pie, red onion and pear tart with vegan cashew parmesan, and veggie samosas with cilantro-mint and apple-chili chutney. The second shot is one of two desserts, a chocolate Guinness cake (made with Asahi black beer, as Guinness itself isn’t vegan!) covered in homemade whisky caramel. The other dessert was a scrumptious pumpkin pie made with agar powder, which thankfully is cheap and ubiquitous over here!Hope you enjoyed the pictures, Happy Thanksgiving!
From Amanda: PUMPKIN TIRAMISU! Looks so delicious; want it immediately.
(Don’t forget to send in your Thanksgiving plates!!)
We have our first Thanksgiving plate!!! AND IT’S A GOOD ONE.
Seitan en croute, mashed potatoes, gravy, wild rice cranberry stuffing, sweet potato casserole, butternut au gratin, balsamic roasted mushrooms, sweet n sour carrots, green beans, roasted veggies, and Brussels sprout avocado slaw. Literally out of control.

Whether you’re the only vegan in a huge family or having a all-vegan Thanksgiving, whether you’re cooking at home or going out, we want to see what your Thanksgiving plate looks like this year! (if you need recipe inspiration, check THIS out!)
Since we’re so lazy this year, we’d love for you to just submit via Tumblr.
It’s really easy, just enter a little text about the food, click on the picture icon to add a picture URL (you can quickly upload your photo(s) and get a free URL from sites like TinyPic), and then click submit! If you don’t have a tumblr and don’t want to set one up (it takes two seconds! and so fun!), then go ahead and email your pic and quick description to us!
We’ll be posting them on Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, as well as pictures of our own Thanksgiving foods, of course. The more participants, the better it’ll be, so take minute to submit pretty please, it’ll be the greatest!

Straight-Up-Thanksgiving Burgers & Hunan-Style Sweet Potato Fries »
For Thanksgiving we made Straight-Up-Thanksgiving Burgers (AMAZING!), topped with Hickory Smoked Tofurky slices and gravy and served on toasted onion rolls. On the side: extra garlic & chive mashed potatoes and stuffing, as well as Hunan-Style Baked Sweet Potato French Fries with Chili Sauce (recipe via the upcoming The Chinese Vegan Kitchen, which I’m in the process of reviewing).
I accidentally ate so much that I had to swap my pants for a bathrobe. My only regret? I didn’t have any room left for the homemade soy chai ice cream or So Delicious Nog!
My almost-fully vegetarian family (my dad eats veg in the house, but not always when he’s out) made a fully-vegan thanksgiving feast! we had quinoa and apple-stuffed acorn squash, mashed sweet and regular potatoes, roasted veggies up the wazoo, salad, rolls, veggie pot pie, and for dessert - pumpkin pudding and apple pie. so yummy! so vegan! as much as I dislike thanksgiving on principle, I’m so grateful that I have a family that is understanding and accommodating of my vegan lifestyle, and has been so willing to make changes in their own lifestyles for me.
