Here’s a new June challenge participant! Sarina took on our challenge and tried THREE new foods. Overachiever! Above is a bowl of longang fruit she tried. The verdict:

Once shelled, they look and taste very much like lychees.  The internet tells me they are from South Asia and that longan literally translates into “dragon’s eye” because it resembles an eyeball when the black pit is exposed.  They were sweet but I wasn’t a big fan of the texture.  Now I know what a dragon eyeball tastes like. 

She also had satsumas and garlic scapes for the first time. You never had satsumas, Sarina? They’re the best! Sing it with me: satsuma, satsuma, rah rah rah!
