Hey Bay Area! The next SF Vegan Bakesale is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30—that’s next Sunday! The profits for this bakesale will go to Performing Animal Welfare Society, which is an awesome organization that helps rescue and find sanctuary for animals that have been “victims of the exotic and performing animals trade,” as well as “investigat[ing] reports of abused performing and exotic animals, document[ing] cruelty and assist[ing] in investigations and prosecutions by regulatory agencies to alleviate the suffering of captive wildlife.” So awesome!
We’ll see you next week on Sunday, Oct. 30, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in front of Herbivore, at 983 Valencia at 20th Street in the Mission!

Worldwide Vegan Bakesale: NYC keeps it real! »
Real delicious, that is!
Ginger cookies, strawberry jam-filled muffins, and maple pecan buttons
The vegans of NYC were in fine form yesterday, appearing en masse at MooShoes in the East Village for yesterday’s Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale, benefiting For the Animals Sanctuary in Blairstown, N.J. The place was packed and there was no shortage of sweet and savory baked yumminess!
Clockwise from top left: rum raisin brownies, peanut butter cheesecake, five-spice snaps, pesto pinwheels, peanut butter s’more turnovers, strawberry jam-filled muffins
I stocked up on obnoxious loudmouthed vegan buttons over by the register, which were nicely accentuated by pear mojito cupcakes and lemon cake,
smiled at all the incredible stories of happy animals featured by For the Animals, and tried on some super cute vegan rings, handmade with all sales towards the Sanctuary.
And let’s not forget the amazing shopping experience that is MooShoes—every time I go there, there’s more and more to love. Talk about inspiration to get rich!
OMG SHOES, and boots, and bags, and wallets.
Yup, a total success. My Tupperware containers left chock-full of pastry goodness, and it’s SUCH an awesome feeling to know where every dollar went.
Sacramento Vegan Bakesale for Japan is THIS SATURDAY! »
Road trip, y’all! This Saturday, Apr. 2, the fine vegans of Sacramento are putting on an insanely huge vegan bakesale to benefit MercyCorps in Japan. You’re going because not only is Sacramento the crack capital of California, it also has some insane vegan eats (Hello, brunch at Sugar Plum Bakery! and an adorable ALL-VEGAN STORE!) and because you love vegan sweet treats* and Japan! Do it to it!
Also, if you want to bake, it’s not too late! Email Toni! Woohoo! You are smart and handsome and very good at everything you do, especially baking. Now get in the kitchen and make me some adorable cat cakes (uh, if you do that, let me know so I can name my next foster dog after you).
*We hear from organizer Toni that the treats will include cookie dough cupcakes, coffee and donut cupcakes, chocolate caramel salted crunch cupcakes, black and whites, mint chocolate brownies, coffee cake, cream cheese brownies, some pb cups, brown sugar peach muffins and apple strudel, oreo cupcakes, sugar skull chocolate molds, blueberry muffins, lemon cupcakes, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies. HOLY. CRAP.
I WANT THOSE CARAMELIZED ONION TARTS! Like, I need them. To survive. Check here for news and updates on the Queensland flood disaster and it looks like you can make international donations to the Queensland government here.
It’s the February East Bay Vegan Bakesale and you want to bake for it! So email and let them know. And if not, you want to go to it! All the details are on that rad flyer above and you can check out the info on Fat Bottom Bakery’s site. Ow!
Oh and perhaps you could make some of these cookies inside of cookies things? I’m pretty sure this is what Cookie Monster jerks it to. And by Cookie Monster, I mean me. And you. ADMIT IT.
