Here it is, your peek inside the August Vegan Cuts Beauty Box!
This box had Pacifica BB cream, Emani Vegan Cosmetics mineral hybrid cream, Enfusia bath soak, Balanced Guru energy mist, and Zabana Essentials green clay facial cleansing bar.
I totally heart the Pacifica BB cream. Very, very light. The Emani cream was like a multipurpose pressed powder. It’s fun, but you don’t get a lot of control, you’re just kinda mixing the colors. Still fun. I haven’t tried the energy mist yet…TOO TIRED! HA! Dad jokes.
I got this for free but if you want to try it, the box subscription is $19.95 a month, shipping included (for US addresses. International is more).

Share the new anti-dairy BART ads, you could win awesome vegan prizes!  »

imageAs you may have heard, the Factory Farming Awareness Coalition won free ad space on BART for the third year in a row! Congrats, you guys! In part thanks to many of our readers voting I’m sure. Well, the ads have launched! And they are already getting some nice coverage

This year, I actually helped with the ad concepting and copy a bit. FFAC wanted to target dairy, including an ad taking aim at the role of dairy in the CA drought. They were inspired by this Mother Jones post showing just how much water goes into various dairy products. The shower idea came because, like us vegans continue to lament, it’s ridiculous how the water conservation agenda focuses so much attention on things like turning the water off when you brush your teeth or watering your lawn at dawn but they neglect to inform people about the impact of meat and dairy on the water supply. Meanwhile, avoiding those products would make a HUGE impact in water conservation. Not that the other suggestions aren’t good, but they are so minor compared to resource-suck that is animal agriculture.

imageHere’s the other ad, a gentle alert to the fact that dairy cows have to have babies to produce milk—and those babies aren’t hanging out with mom if people are drinking the milk. It doesn’t go all the way to the veal industry relationship but just connecting the dots for people about mammals…milk…babies…is important. I have conversations all the time with non-vegans who are completely unaware that dairy cows don’t just constantly produce milk without being impregnated. Actually, if we’re being honest, I didn’t really know that before I started looking into veganism. I mean if you think about it, it’s like duh, but we are just so distanced from food sources that people don’t even think about the logistics of it all.

However! It’s not all doom and gloom in this post! FFAC wanted me to inform you that they are holding a little Instagram contest for the ads and the prizes are SO EXCITING! There’s a contest for each ad. It doesn’t appear that you need to post an actual photo of the ad in the station, but just the ad itself. You do HAVE to follow @ffacoalition's IG account though. More details:

Drought Ad: From now until September 19th, post the Drought ad on your Instagram account, tag @ffacoalition and hashtag it with #ffaconbart, and you could win a three-month subscription to either the Vegan Cuts Beauty Box OR the Vegan Cuts Snack Box! Winner’s choice!

Calf Ad: Starting September 21st and ending October 5th, post a pic of the calf ad on your IG account, again tagging @ffacoalition and hashtagging #ffaconbart. For this one, you could win a $50.00 gift certificate to Vegan Essentials! That’s ONLY my FAVORITE store EVER.

The super official rules are here but that’s the basic need-to-know. Nice prizes, right?!

Has anyone seen the ads irl? TAKE A PICTURE FOR ME! I want to see it “in situ” as us ad folk say. I’ll be your best friend!

Helloooo nurse! It’s your peek inside July’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box! We had products from Nouveau/Organica, Emani Vegan Cosmetics, Ellovi, Just the Goods, Original Sprout, and Savvy Boheme!
The Ellovi body butter is smooooth and I love the package design. The Just the Goods lotion is nice as well. Really helped my chapped elbows. VERY fragrant. I haven’t used the Original Sprout cleanser yet but I already love it! It’s for babies OR real humans! You think I could use it on my cat? She needs a bath. Ok I won’t. But Dolores really needs a bath.
The Emani lipstick is now an office favorite. It’s nice and creamy, lasts a long time and is hyper pigmented! That’s everything you want! So the peeps at work were all over that.
Moral of the story: another good haul!
I got this for free but if you want to try it, the box subscription is $19.95 a month, shipping included (for US addresses. International is more).

It’s that time of the month again! No, not that time, it’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box time! Here’s you peek into this past month’s box.
The Superchic Lacquer caused a feeding frenzy at work. It ended up getting passed around. Like a 40 at an 8th grade party. Everybody was really into the color. It was a light blue, I think this one.
And of course the Pacifica eyeliner was popular! Did you know they made eyeliner? I did not.
What else…oh! My new favorite thing was in the box! NYL nourishing facial serum! I recently tried a bunch of NYL stuff that I’ve been meaning to review—oops! It’s coming, I swear!—and this was actually my favorite product of theirs. So it was pretty dope to find it in the beauty box.
I was also into the LA Fresh nail polish remover because it’s a nice little travel polish remover and travel shiz is the best! You know me, always travelin.
That’s your peek into the Beauty Box this month!

The May Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is BONKERS  »

image

Vegan Cuts kept saying their May Beauty Box was going to be special, but dang, that shiz was BANANAS! It was mostly full-size stuff instead of samples AND totally things I’m so excited about! Because I really just like samples in general so I’m happy for whatever samples I ever get, but this has stuff that I’m ALWAYS looking for vegan versions of—like a eyelash strengthening mascara! YES PLEASE! I have bitty lashes but I thought eyelash serum things wouldn’t be vegan.

So I’m very excited about the Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques lash-strengthening mascara. I also firmly believe in finishing powder so I love the big ol’ jar of Gourmet Body Treats Raw Finishing Powder. And I’m super excited for the Sevi texturize spray because I like a good wave. There was also a giant tube of SkinAgain Youth lotion, which is great because my mom says I’m destined to have spotty British skin like her and my grandma and I’m like, KILL THAT NOISE, OLD LADY!

Yeah, in conclusion: BONKERS!

ALSO, did you see they came out with a vegan dog lovers box?! I WANT!!!

I got this for free but if you want to try it, the box subscription is $19.99 a month, shipping included (for US addresses. International is more).

Behold! The bounty of my April Vegan Cuts Beauty Box! A wondrous harvest indeed.
The GlamNatural lip gloss is very nice. I think it would be a nice shade for most, if not all, skin tones. I like that in general about the Beauty Box, so far I’ve yet to get anything that would only complement white people skin tones or what have you. And nothing that says it’s “nude” colored when what they really mean is white people colored! I LOATHE that to the max. I’m white but I’m completely fine with buying “Light Beige” or “CLZY87801” or “Pink Desert Sand at Dusk in the Shadow of a Fig Tree,” or just really ANYTHING that’s not effing racist NUDE.
I digress. But yeah, point is, seems like Vegan Cuts makes an effort to give samples that everyone can enjoy. And it’s not a ton of makeup, there’s always different stuff. So if you don’t wear makeup, there are still plenty of things you will enjoy.
I also really liked the Montagne Jeunesse face masks! Jeez. Let’s be real, I just love trying new beauty products! And I like getting samples that I know are vegan. So I got this for free but if you want to try it, the box subscription is $19.99 a month, shipping included (for US addresses. International is more).

Product Review: Greenbody Basics deodorant!   »

image

I already went over the trials and tribulations of finding an awesome vegan deodorant the last time I gushed about a brand I loved, so I’m going to keep this quick.

Greenbody Basics brand deodorant is phenom! I got a sample in my April Vegan Cuts Beauty Box, and I’m super into it. At first I was skeptical, because it came with a little pamphlet about how you get kind of smelly when you detox from using non-vegan and aluminum-full brands. When I finally gave it a whirl, though, everything was hunky dory. I also like tea tree and rosemary, so I’m glad I got to try the balanced scent. it was just right!

I’m so pleased to have choices when it comes to vegan deodorants. You can pick up a tube of Greenbody at the website or over at Vegan Cuts

Product review: Vegan Cuts Beauty Essentials Kit!   »

imageI love vegan cosmetics! In a past more recent than I’d like to admit, I got tripped up by the term cruelty-free on cosmetics, thinking it was an all-inclusive term meaning vegan. That, my friends, couldn’t be farther from the truth, as cruelty free cosmetics often have animal ingredients in them. If I, a long-time vegan, am having trouble with this in the store, how must new vegans feel? It’s overwhelming! With lists and lists of animal ingredients to memorize, these waters are not often easy to navigate—not only in food but in products for our faces, bods and hair as well!

Thankfully, the Vegan Beauty Essentials Kit exists, curated by Vegan Cuts! This box is filled with such fun and luxurious products, I believe vegans of all experience levels, from rookies to lifers, the curious to the die-hards, will enjoy receiving it! I excitedly tried most of the products immediately, but am saving a few for weekends on the go! Most of the products, if not all of them, are the perfect size to get through TSA, and wouldn’t take up much room in an overnight bag. I enjoy having fancy products to travel with, it adds a bit of excitement and glamour to an on-the-go routine. I can’t just waltz into the drugstore for all my trial-size, traveling needs anymore.

image
Let’s be real: vegan products do not come cheap, definitely not as affordable as their cruelty-full counterparts. In this respect, I enjoy having an assortment of sample sizes to try, in order to make informed decisions about which full sizes to purchase in the future. After all, what works for you may not work for me and vice versa. The Beauty Essentials kit comes with 10 -15 surprise items, and while most are sample size, a couple of them are full size!

Can’t see the video? Watch it on Vegansaurus.com!

I couldn’t recommend this kit more! And what a deal: it’s a $50 value for $27.95. Everything smells so fresh, and is catered to most skin and hair types! (Please, can someone come teach me how to use the eyeshadow, because I have never gotten the hang of that one?) [Ed. note: Megan Rascal’s adorable sister can!]

Full Disclosure: Vegan Cuts sent me the Beauty Essentials Kit to review, free of charge, but all of the opinions stated are my own. I will be purchasing many of these products after sampling them in the kit. I wouldn’t waste your time, nor mine, writing posts that do not reflect my personal experience! BECAUSE I AM THE WORST AND DROPPED THE BALL ON GETTING THIS REVIEW UP, VERSION 2.0 IS WHAT IS AVAILABLE NOW. Looks just as awesome!

Here’s the inside of March’s Beauty Box from Vegan Cuts! I’m very excited for the LVX nail polish—a full size bottle! And a pretty color. I’m also stoked about the Pangea Organics face mask. It’s got a super-long name with all these super-important sounding ingredients. Wait, let me look it up, hold please…
Found it! It’s the Japanese Matcha Tea Acai Goji Berry Facial Mask. RIGHT?! Sounds very important. My face is intrigued.
I got this for free but the box subscription is $19.99 a month, shipping included (for US addresses. International is more).

Got my Vegan Cuts Beauty Box at the end of Feb and now I’m ready to tell you all about it! Disclaimer: I got it for free, just so you know. So this box had Pacifica lip butter, Feed Your Do from Yarok, hand cream from Chandler Farm, Greenbody deodorant, Molly Rose Balm in Pickles and Ice Cream, and a lil’ candle from Birthed By Earth Candle Co.
I love the Pacifica lip stuff. It’s moisturizing and gives a slight red tint. I tested out the little Greenbody deodorant—at the gym no less—and it held up well! Obvi I was sweating but I wasn’t stinking. I also like the Chandler Farm hand cream. Normally I like a little scent in my lotion but this just absorbed super well, not greasy at all. So I like that. Still have to try the Feed Your Do…imma get on that because my do needs to get fed.
I’m sorry but I couldn’t get down with the Pickles and Ice Cream lip balm. Maybe it’s too avant garde for me but I don’t want to smell pickles all the time.
So that’s the Feb beauty box! You can sign up for the monthly box at Vegan Cuts.
