Mob in Bulgaria attacks disabled dog  »

This is so upsetting. What kind of person attacks an injured dog? It looks like he can’t even get away like the other dogs did. He’s just out there defenseless. We HAVE to help put pressure on the Bulgarian police. This is so effed up. Help Borko!

Hey, Davey Havok, how’ve you been? Looking much sharper than 15 years ago when my brother first started playing your EPs, I must say. Nice to see you’re still living the vegan lifestyle!

Usually we don’t post every one of the 80 billion celebrity Peta ads because most celebrity Peta ads are fameballs looking to build their brand by taking off their clothes (like they’d ever spend money on a fur that they could spend on new glamour shots at a pumpkin patch, ahem), but little Davey Havok here has been vegan (and straightedge) for a long time, and he’s got a vegan clothing line called Zu Boutique whose website redirects to the site for his new book, Pop Kids, which you could win a copy of through peta2. The point is, he lives his truth or whatever, and I feel like we’d be doing the Vegansaurus readership a disservice not posting video of a handsome vegan man with a cat, so, here you go. Vegans 4ever.

It’s a Fresh Prince parody about dog adoption. That’s it. All my dreams have been realized. I have nothing left to live for. Donuts, I think I’ll miss you most of all.

February marked the first anniversary of the Turlock rescue, “”the largest farmed animal rescue in California history.” Of 50,000 hens who were abandoned to starve for two weeks, 4,460 were saved, and Animal Place brought in 4,100.

This is Turlock the Documentary, and tells the story of the hens and their rescuers. Want to support the hens? Donate to Animal Place—they do truly wonderful work.

Episode 17: PANGOLINS

I’ve been fascinated by pangolins (Order: Pholidota) ever since I first learned about them, and moreso after I realized they are basically real-life Pokémon.  I am asked frequently about my favorite specimen in the museum so when I opened up the option to decide between a few other animals - without any additional context - I was thrilled that the masses chose ‘pangolins’.  As a side note, if you’d like to get involved with crowd-inspired shows in the future be sure to stay tuned to my Twitter or our Facebook page

Speaking of pangolins, let’s learn all about them (a single animal can eat up to 70 million ants every year! their tongues are so long they have muscles in their pelvis!) from science queen Emily Graslie and The Brain Scoop!

Episode 16: Horns vs. Antlers

We get a lot of requests to fulfill common queries about the odd animal world - differentiating between horns and alters is one of them.  Certainly there is a lot more that can be said on this subject, but here’s your basic bite-sized rundown of similarities and differences.  Someday soon we’ll be discussing the freakshow exceptions to the rules: rhinoceroses, the American pronghorn, the common raccoon.

Get down and educational with Philip L. Wright Zoological Museum and Comparative Skeletal Collection! I love some light science, don’t you?
