New items and vegan fun at the Vaute pop-up shop!  »

image

I finally made it to the Vaute Autumn/Winter shop and it’s THE CUTEST! And FULL of awesome vegan stuff. There are super-cute shoes from Bhava and Insectashoe, adorable purses from Hipsters for Sisters, and the latest Vaute offerings!

image

Some of the cute t-shirts–there’s so many! They release new shirts every month and the pop-up is well-stocked.

image

One of the new sweaters!!!! It’s long, like a short dress. Comes in this color and a beige. Very cute, but the exciting part is how it’s made. Of course it’s vegan, but it’s also made from 80% recycled cotton yarn from fashion industry waste, and knit in a waste-less process in the NYC Garment District. So you’re animal-friendly and environmentally-friendly! I heart the environment, that’s where all the animals live.

(Oh also notice the cute Bhava and Insectashoes!)

image

Here’s the other sweater. It comes in three colors I believe. I posted it on our Instagram and everyone admired its dad qualities. I might have to get one for me AND my dad. Twinsies! Yay father-daughter twinsies.

image

Low and behold, one of the new Vaute gowns! Catch a glimpse of the open back in the mirror–so pretty! It’s navy and sooooo nice. Again, this bad boy is environmentally-friendly as all get out. It’s actually made of 100% recycled plastic bottles! ITALIAN plastic bottles! The bottles are mechanically recycled from a river in Italy. Isn’t it so chic to have a gown made from recycled Italian plastic bottles?? I die.

image

And of course, all the Vaute coats are there as well, in all the sizes and colors your heart desires. So that’s nice, you can try everything on.

image

So if you haven’t had a chance to go, you must! It’s on 250 Mott St. in SOHO, NYC. Open Everyday 12-8, September 19th - December 30th. Get there while you can!

This weekend: VAUTE’s NYC Shop Grand Opening! Discounts, cookies, more!  »

image

Extra, extra! Your favorite vegan design label Vaute is opening a temporary Manhattan store! And the opening party is THIS WEEKEND! There will be vegan cookie sandwiches by PonyCakes until 5pm, Leanne herself will make an appearance, and 30% off EVERYTHING Vaute for the whole weekend! Holy cannoli! I’m so excited.

And the space promises to be v awesome:

VAUTE NYC Autumn-Winter Shop is an inside job - being designed and built by Leanne and the VAUTE team. Leanne and her team sourced vintage pieces online, including a Victorian yellow velvet couch, and salvaged materials from Build it Green/Big Reuse in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

Plus the store will have some other exciting items:

In addition to VAUTE’s exclusive fall collection ethically made from recycled fabrics and organic materials, the New York-based label also features a curated selection of one-of-a-kind accessories like Insecta shoes made from deadstock vintage material in Brazil and LA designer Hipsters for Sisters’ fringed fanny packs, made in LA.

I’ve been following Insecta shoes on Instagram ever since Vaute put me on to them and boy, they look so cool! And the fanny packs are super adorbs as well.

I’m so excited! I’m recovering from surgery but my mom said I could totally go! Just have to take a cab…twist my arm, mom!

The party is Saturday and Sunday, the 19th and 20th, from 12-7pm. Shop is located at 250 Mott Street (between Prince & Houston). Basically the ONLY Manhattan neighborhood I frequent! Yaaaay!

AND LA FOLK! Don’t forget you have your own Vaute pop-up! Lucky usssss!

Preorder for Vaute’s fall collection starts TODAY!  »

image

IN A FEW HOURS THE NEW VAUTE WILL BE ON SALE! When they announce the preorder start (prob on their facebook), you can go to this link and the new shiz will be up!

As you know, Vaute coats are not cheap. Because they are well-made, sustainably sourced and not assembled by children. BUT as you also should know, preorder is THE time to get your Vaute coat! (and your hat–they have hats now!) Because those babies are hella on sale! And preorder funds the production of the entire line so you help Vaute make more stuff and you get a big ol’ discount.

image

According to Leanne:

Pricing is 50% off outerwear (including our most requested Lincoln coat, which is head to toe insulated, I wore it for miles each day in the vortex last winter!) today at launch time for 24 hours. And Hats will be $120, but $85 for first 24 hours too.

Our new WonderFelt looks like pressed wool felt, but is made of 100% recycled plastic bottles, crafted in USA. And we made hats out of it too! Handblocked one at a time in one of NYC’s last hat factories using the original vintage molds, and insulated too so they’re super warm.
Coats this season are made in my hometown Chicago!

Let’s go over the finer points:

-50% off coats
-Vegan wool felt made from recycled bottles
-Hats made at a NYC hat factory from vintage molds

Um, I’m sold! You better get your coat and hat before I buy everything. Because I look SO GOOD in hats, believe that. My whole family does. Some sort of DNA thing. Science.

Also, look at this new dress Leanne sent a pic of:

The new Vaute Couture collection is here and it rules! All the new coats are available for preorder right now BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE: they are 45% off until the first! Holy cannoli. That’s a good fracking deal. I just ordered the Belden because I wanted one before but they were sold out. But they made more! Happy day!

Yes, it’s August. But you will need a coat eventually. Unless you are a total thug and do the t-shirt in winter thing. Get down with your bad self, you cold-hearted bastard.

Some kind of hot/cold fashion/weather pun: Men’s winter coat round-up!  »

What up, homeboys?! I didn’t forget about you! I know you get cold. How about some nice winter coats?

But not before a refresher on the evils of down (not for faint of heart):

So sad. And as the video says, there is no way to tell where the down in any particular jacket comes from. Let’s look at pretty coats and be happy we don’t hurt geese.

First up, this Patagonia number.
image
This is your standard hooded-bomber that anybody can wear. It’s filled with primaloft and made of 100 percent recycled polyester! Yay! Besides the many eco-benefits of these down-alternative coats, many of them say down-alternatives mean you stay warm when the coat gets wet. NICE! We RULE!

Here’s a rather exciting coat, the Special Blend Rifle insulated jacket.
image
I’m into it. It’s kind of subtly ‘80s.

Here’s a handsome coat!
image
Hello, Shimmer Me Timbers jacket from Columbia! Let’s cozy up!

For a grown-up look, here’s the Hamilton jacket from Marmot.image
What’s up, dad! No, but for real, I like this jacket. And it has like 80 million features, which is exciting!

Let’s get a little hipper with this Under Armour coat.image
This jacket highlights another bonus you get from synthetic insulation: you can move! It’s warm but thin.

Here’s my favorite, a good-old Carhartt parka!image
There is nothing better than a nice boy in a Carhartt–that’s my word! Holler at me, Carhartt boys!

Finally a vest! It’s the Baffin vest from Marmot.
image
I wouldn’t recommend this vest for everybody but it’s pretty cool. Only get it if you think you can pull it off. Just leave it home if you’re going out on the Razor, please.

There you go, boys! Stay warm!

Women’s winter coat round-up! Stay down-free without freezing!  »

Good lord, I totally forgot about snow! That shiz is COLD! My peacoat was fine in SF but New York is going to require some serious GEAR. Plus I know you SF bitches go skiing and whatnot–suit up with my women’s winter coat round-up! Totally DOWN-free. Why? Let’s ask the World Society for the Protection of Animals:

[…] [M]illions of birds are plucked alive every year in Europe alone. The figure is even higher in China, the world’s largest producer of down and other feathers. China exports to a number of European countries where the down is used in duvets, pillows and jackets. Regardless of the origin of the feathers, the consequences for the geese are clear: they are tormented and badly stressed during the plucking process.

That’s right dudes, they pluck them LIVE. Holy crap.

On to the beautiful coats!

First up, this lovely Patagonia number, the women’s Rubicon Rider jacket.
image
Check it: “Insulated with lightweight, compressible 150-g Thermogreen® polyester (90 percent recycled) that stays warm even when wet”–sounds good! I like this one because it’s modern but it kind of has a ‘70s, Three’s Company vibe. Especially in the red.

Next, a nice faux-fur hooded parka!
image
The Berghaus Mid Insulated Parka
is also filled with polyester. I like faux-fur and I like how brownish faux-fur looks with the black coat. Also, this looks warm!

Next, from North Face, we have the Whitby jacket.
image
Another “eco” insulated jacket! See? Once again, we vegans are better for the environment! Huzzah!

Now from Marmot, we have the women’s Zurich jacket.

image
This one is uber-modern looking. I’m into the contrast piping and stitching. This would be great for riding your hover-board during the winter days!

On the super-high-end vegan side, here’s the Airs from Vaute Couture.
imageimage
Another coat with environmentally friendly insulation! Unfortunately, there are only a few sizes left in this design, but they say they are making more so keep an eye out. It’s pretty fly. Comes in hot pink too for you daring girls! What’s that? I can’t hear you over how loud your coat is!

Finally, a nice Patagonia vest.

image
The Kitlope
shell is 100 percent recycled polyester. Booyah! I’m loving how eco-friendly this list is turning out–it’s purely coincidental! We just rule! Now, I love this vest, I’m really into the yoking, I just don’t remember how to wear vests? I know I used to in my high school Wu-Tang days but now I can’t remember why we wear vests? Don’t your arms get cold or your body gets too warm? Still, it’s dope.

Have a happy, goose-friendly winter, pals!

Hey you vegan boys! You’ve got your own store!  »

image

Yes vegan boys, you can stop dressing like a slouch because The Ethical Man is here! I know I neglect you, always talking about women’s shoes and whatnot, but no longer!

The Ethical Man is not just an online shop, it’s also a fashion resource. The store is actually a bit sparse now but I’m into these skinny ties. And they aren’t silk, pals! Holler! They also have bow ties and some other items plus a few dope coats from Vaute Couture. I’m in love with their “About Us” section because they promise all the items they sell are, “MANLY. After all, real men don’t hurt animals.” OMG LET’S GET MARRIED.

And dudes, you can submit yourself to be featured on their Ethical Men series on their blog! I’m thinking our vegansaurus boys should be all up on there!
